acrylics on canvas

the title should be 'ReadBetweenTheLinesOfRedWhiteAndBlue'.. .but it didn't fit.
those freakin bombs in the background..yes, they're all handpainted with a 0/2 brush...i wanted to shoot myself in the face.
this is my favourite out of the series, though, so please comment on it. :)

Jesus fucking christ people. "The guy in the corner reminds me of my friend when his hair was shorter" is NOT a valid comment. Who gives a flying about your friend. This is an artistic forum so make comments about ideas, craft, technique! Things thatre going to HELP the artist. Not random miscellanea relevant to no one but yourself.

With that said. There are a number of things I like about your work. It has a certain design element about it that seems almost reminiscent of pop-art, but with a definite painting feel to it that alot of painters seem to lose by making their work overly refined and smoothed out. Especially the case with acrylic. I personally feel that the words identifying each person come off as somewhat trite. The image is strong enough on its own, As a viewer I understand that it is "we the people" being attacked by these bombs in the shape of a flag. I dont need words to point that out. The colors are great and it is evident that you put alot of time and effort into this work. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

i don't really mind when people leave comments about random crap; that's their perrogrative and i'm happy to hear anything anybody has to say. but the reason i DO post stuff on here is definitely in the hope for comments like yours. i really appreciate it that you took the time to sit down and actually think about my work which is unfortunately somewhat of a rarity on this website.

anyways, yes i do agree that the words come off as trite. :\ they were a last minute detail that i slapped on because i doubted the clarity of the work and because my prof was trying to get me to use text more. after i took this picture, i put a black wash over the words so that they blend in more with their shirts. so on the actual work now, they aren't so obvious. but yeah, i definitely agree with you. and you totally got everything i wanted the viewer to get out of my work so thank you so much for that. :D

I love the skin tone that you gave all of them. I especially like the one on the right. He's very realistic. ^^
